On Thursday, June 13, 2024, Tory Technologies held our 3rd COSMOS User Group Meeting. This three-hour event was filled with lots of interesting topics and discussions from our special guests and our team. We’ll be uploading the entire webinar on our video platform, ToryVideo, but in the meantime, we wanted to give you all the highlights. Keep reading to learn more about the 2024 COSMOS User Group Meeting!
The event began with an introduction of the meeting’s agenda by our host Cindy Perez, COSMOS Service Desk Coordinator here at Tory-Tech. She introduced Rene Varon, our President and CEO, who gave a compelling welcome message to open the meeting. He spoke about the company’s growth over the past year, the updates and improvements we’ve made to COSMOS®, the commitments Tory-Tech is upholding to our clients, and the main goals for the remainder of the year. After his welcome message, we were able to hear from our keynote speaker, Eduardo Bottani.
Eduardo is the Product Custody Leader at YPF with more than 21 years of experience in the oil industry. Passionate about metrology, he has shared his knowledge in many industry forums internationally. We are honored to have had him participate in this year’s UGM and share his valuable insight. He spoke about the calculation of tolerances for balances and product transfers. Thank you to Eduardo Bottani for his incredible and interesting presentation!
Next, we had a wonderful panel of COSMOS users present to discuss various topics, such as challenges related to volumetric measurement processes, expansion of the use of the COSMOS application within the organization, and management indicators to justify the development of these types of projects. This hour-long panel was moderated by Daniel Contreras, Project Engineer III at Tory-Tech. Our panelists included Larissa Noel, Gas Pipeline Engineer at TAG in Brazil; Vinicius Costelha, Measurement Engineer at TAG in Brazil; Alexandra Ruiz, Balances Coordinator at Grupo Vanti in Colombia; and Gabriel Gonzalez, Reliability and Integrity Engineer at Ecopetrol in Colombia. Together, the panel created a very engaging discussion about the topics presented and we were able to hear the different ways COSMOS, FLOWCAL, and TESTit were used in these companies’ operations.
After the panel, Mauricio Echeverry, COSMOS Product Director, presented the COSMOS Roadmap. In his presentation, he discussed the updates made to COSMOS this past year. He spoke about the updates made to the product in the past year, the objectives planned for the rest of the year and into the beginning of 2025, and the objectives that are currently in progress. He wrapped up with a timeline of all projects in progress and projects coming soon. To learn more about the features offered in COSMOS, contact us to view the release notes!
After Mauricio’s presentation, we introduced our AI-generated avatar, Natalia. She and other avatars will be featured on ToryVideo, where we will be uploading videos about the release notes and information about COSMOS.
Natalia then introduced Paula Castro, COSMOS Project Implementation Lead, who discussed the newest development in COSMOS: the Exceptions Management Module with AI integration. The COSMOS team has been working on this module to make our clients’ user experience smoother. You can expect to see this module available later this year!
Next, we heard from Jorge Roa, COSMOS Support Team Lead. He spoke about the projects the service team has implemented to improve user experience, the number of tickets resolved in the last year, and the commitment to continue providing the best service possible to our clients.
We then heard from Diego Perdomo, COSMOS Projects Sr. Lead, who spoke about data acquisition management and integration with third-party systems. To wrap up the Operations Team’s presentation, we heard from Nicolas Lopez, COSMOS Operations Director. He discussed CEGA 4 (COSMOS Expert Group of Advisors) and the features and integrations that will be available for our clients to vote for in 2025.
To close our meeting, Rene Varon took to the floor once more to extend our thanks to all the attendees, our special guests, and our team for their participation in this highly anticipated event.
We would like to thank all those who attended and participated in this year’s COSMOS User Group Meeting. The attendance was incredible, and we were able to have many engaging conversations and hear different perspectives on volumetric management. We would also like to thank the COSMOS Team at Tory-Tech for their hard work over the past few months in planning and executing this event.
If you missed this meeting, no worries! We’ll be posting the highlights reel on our LinkedIn page very soon, and the full webinar will be available on ToryVideo.
